AOTW | Koughan and Sanoh named Hurricanes Athletes of the Week

Women’s hockey player Mackenzie Koughan and men’s soccer player Ibra Sanoh have been named the Holland Hurricanes Athletes of the Week for the week ending October 28.
Koughan, a second year goalie with the Hurricanes recorded a shutout on Sunday in Wolfville, NS versus the Acadia Axewomen; the Hurricanes won the game 5-0 to pick up their first victory of the season.
The ‘Canes are 1-1-0 on the season after dropping Saturday’s game 2-1, also to Acadia.
The Hurricanes are back in action on Saturday, November 11 when they host the Axewomen at 7:30pm at the North Star Arena in Rustico before hosting them again on Sunday, November 12 in Montague at the Cavendish Farms Wellness Centre.
Koughan, from Johnston’s River, PEI, is currently studying in the Human Services program at Holland College.
Sanoh, a men’s soccer player in his fourth year with the Huricanes led Holland College to their fourth straight ACAA Championship when they defeated the MSVU Mystics 3-0 in Sunday’s championship game.
The striker from Conakry, Guineau, scored four goals over two games at the ACAA Championships in Saint John, NB this weekend where on Friday he was named the ACAA Player of the Year for the fourth time. Sanoh was also named to the ACAA’s first All-Conference team as well as a CCAA All-Canadian for a record, fourth time.
Sanoh is currently a Marketing and Advertising Management student at Holland College.
The Hurricanes are now preparing for the CCAA National Men’s Soccer Championship in Naniamo, BC, November 8-11; the event is hosted by the Vancouver Island University Mariners.
The ‘Canes kick off the event on Wednesday, November 8 at 2pm AST versus the ACAC Champions from Alberta, the Keyano Huskies.
