Charlottetown, PE — The Holland Hurricanes are proud to announce the hiring of Jeremy Pike as the new Head Coach of the Hurricanes Football team.
Pike steps into the role after spending the past two seasons on the Hurricanes coaching staff, most recently serving as Special Teams Coordinator. His deep understanding of the program, proven leadership abilities, and clear vision for the future made him the standout choice to lead Hurricanes Football into its next era.
A former student-athlete at St. Francis Xavier University, Pike played five seasons with the X-Men from 2014 to 2018 and was part of three Atlantic University Sport (AUS) championship teams. During his time in Antigonish, he witnessed firsthand the culture, discipline, and commitment required to build and sustain a championship program—experience he now brings to the Holland Hurricanes.
Pike's coaching philosophy centers on building a strong team culture, developing student-athletes both on and off the field, and establishing a consistent recruiting pipeline that will position the Hurricanes among the premier programs in the Atlantic Football League.
In addition to his coaching experience, Pike holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Canterbury and previously owned and operated Pike Football Academy. Through his academy, he worked with athletes across Atlantic Canada and Ontario, helping develop players who advanced to the U SPORTS level. His background in education and athlete development reflects his commitment to preparing student-athletes for success both in football and beyond.
For Holland College Athletic Director Adam Smith, Pike's character, passion, and vision distinguished him throughout the hiring process.
"Our goal was to find a leader who could inspire our student-athletes, strengthen our culture, and build a program that our entire community could rally around. Jeremy Pike stood out throughout the process because of his passion, integrity, and vision for the future. We are incredibly excited to welcome him as the next head coach of the Holland Hurricanes Football program and can't wait to see the impact he will have on our student-athletes."
Pike is equally excited about the opportunity to lead a program he has helped build over the past two seasons.
“Football has been a huge part of my life for over 20 years, shaping my closest friendships and building the life skills that got me to where I am today. My two years on the Holland College staff have been an incredible experience and really opened my eyes to the unique impact we can have as the only 2-year college football program in Canada.
My goal is to build a program and culture that sets our players up for success long after football. I also see a huge opportunity to grow the game across PEI, and I’m excited to work closely with minor programs throughout the Island. I’m honoured to be named Head Coach of the Hurricanes and can’t wait to get to work!”
Having made Prince Edward Island his permanent home, Pike is deeply invested in both the local community and the long-term success of Hurricanes Football. His commitment to developing well-rounded student-athletes and creating a championship-caliber culture aligns closely with the values of Holland College and the Hurricanes athletic program.
