It’s another busy weekend for the Holland Hurricanes as each winter sport inches closer to playoff season. Volleyball and basketball are on the road in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, while hockey returns to home ice.
Here is everything you need to know about the Hurricanes in Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) and Atlantic Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) regular-season action on Saturday, Feb. 14, and Sunday, Feb. 15.
Women’s Volleyball
The women’s volleyball Hurricanes aim to finish the regular season with a perfect February and a longer win streak when they visit the Dalhousie Rams this weekend in Truro, N.S.
With four consecutive wins since Jan. 31 and six wins in eight games since the second half began, the Hurricanes have peaked at a pivotal time and will push hard to have a shot at a first-round bye at the 2026 ACAA Volleyball Championships.
The top four teams, including Holland, are within a four-point bubble, which looks like this:
1st - 28 points - St. Thomas - 18 games played, 14 wins, 4 losses - 2-game win streak
T-2nd - 26 points - UNBSJ - 17 games played, 13 wins, 4 losses - 6-game win streak
T-2nd - 26 points - Mount Allison - 18 games played, 13 wins, 5 losses - 1-game win streak
4th - 24 points - Holland - 18 games played, 12 wins, 6 losses - 4-game win streak
Dalhousie, fifth, carries a 9-8 record (18 points) through 17 games. While they have one game in hand over Holland and could mathematically tie them, they are more realistically a disruptor to the battle at the top of the standings. In the last game between the two teams, Holland won 3-0 on Nov. 23, 2025, at home.
Senior player Jenna O’Neill is the latest – and back-to-back – Hurricanes Female Athlete of the Week, and also a recent ACAA Female Athlete of the Week. In her last five games, she has totalled 75 kills and 49 digs and has been making a significant impact as her ACAA career comes to a close.
Game times are 3 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday. Watch live at ACAA.tv.

Men’s Volleyball
The men’s volleyball Hurricanes will join the women in Truro, N.S., this weekend to also clash with the Dalhousie Rams.
Holland is coming off a dramatic five-set victory against the second-place USTA Dragons last Sunday to close out the home portion of their regular-season campaign, and will finish the away portion this weekend.
The Hurricanes will be chasing UNBSJ for third place during this weekend’s doubleheader, looking to capitalize on the winless Rams. Holland and UNBSJ are separated by two points for third, with the latter notably facing the league-leading St. Thomas Tommies this weekend.
The odds are heavily in favour of Holland based on the current standings and latest trends:
1st - 34 points - St. Thomas - 18 games played, 17 wins, 1 loss, 15-game win streak
2nd - 24 points - USTA - 18 games played, 12 wins, 6 losses, 1-game losing streak
3rd - 20 points - UNBSJ - 18 games played, 10 wins, 8 losses, 2-game win streak
4th - 18 points - Holland - 18 games played, 9 wins, 9 losses, 1-game win streak
If Holland does leapfrog UNBSJ, they’ll avoid St. Thomas and challenge USTA in the ACAA Volleyball Championships semifinals. If Holland stays in fourth, the Tommies will be their semifinal opponent for a fourth consecutive year. St. Thomas has beaten Holland and advanced to the finals at the past two championships.
As for Holland’s opponent this weekend, the Dalhousie Rams have yet to win after 18 games and have won just 12 of 66 sanctioned sets. The Hurricanes lead the regular-season series 2-0, having won 3-1 on Nov. 22, 2025, and Nov. 23, 2025, at home.
Game times are 5 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. Watch live at ACAA.tv.

Women’s Basketball
The women’s basketball Hurricanes enter another weekend against an elite opponent, the league-leading St. Thomas Tommies in Fredericton, N.B.
After recently dropping two games to the second-ranked Mount Saint Vincent Mystics at home, the Hurricanes look to flip the script, get back to their winning ways, and play spoiler on their final regular-season road trip.
They’re currently tied with Mount Allison for third in the conference, each with 18 points. Holland has a 9-5 record after 14 games, while Mount Allison is 9-6 after 15 games and has won five in a row.
Both teams are guaranteed to finish fourth or higher ahead of the postseason, as UNBSJ is 10 points behind and out of reach. But the battle for third is on, with the team that finishes ahead playing a worse statistical opponent to begin the playoffs.
As for Holland’s challenger this weekend, the Tommies have won 13 straight matches and not allowed any more than 46 points in a single game in their last four contests. The Hurricanes lost to St. Thomas in their previous battle on Nov. 22, 2025, at home, 57-43.
Game times are 3 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday. Watch live at ACAA.tv.

Men’s Basketball
The men’s basketball Hurricanes will join the women in Fredericton, N.B., this weekend to invade the men’s St. Thomas Tommies.
The Hurricanes are fresh off a stunning home-court victory over the Mount Saint Vincent Mystics last Sunday, and look to carry that momentum into their upcoming two-game showdown against another nationally ranked program.
St. Thomas has taken over Mount Saint Vincent as the top-ranked ACAA team in the weekly Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) men’s basketball rankings, slotting into 11th out of 15 teams. Ironically, the Tommies were also recently upset, with Crandall ending their five-game surge.
The Hurricanes are currently tied with Crandall for fourth in the conference, each with 6-8 records after 14 games for 12 points.
Heading into this weekend’s matches, Holland seeks revenge on St. Thomas after falling short at home 86-82 on Nov. 22, 2025.
Spencer Rossiter is the newest Hurricanes Male Athlete of the Week and ACAA Male Athlete of the Week after a season-best weekend. In the doubleheader against Mount Saint Vincent, Rossiter totalled 39 points, nine three-pointers, 13 rebounds, and seven steals across 69 minutes.
Game times are 5 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. Watch live at ACAA.tv.

Women’s Hockey
The women’s hockey Hurricanes return to the ice this weekend to continue ACHA regular-season competition.
The three-peating ACHA champions will play over the next four weekends, with the next three part of the second half of their regular-season campaign, and the next two at the Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown, P.E.I. The 2026 ACHA Championship in Sydney, N.S., comes at the end of the stretch.
After two weekends off, the Hurricanes, sitting at the bottom of the standings with a 1-5 record after six games, look to turn things around and gain momentum before chasing a historic fourth consecutive regional championship in March.
They’ll host the Cape Breton Capers on Saturday and Sunday in the second edition of this season’s “Battle of the Islands.” The Capers – 4-3-1 – recently lost twice to the league-leading Acadia Axewomen and look to not only get back into the win column, but stay unbeaten against the Hurricanes.
Cape Breton defeated Holland 4-1 and 6-2 to begin the regular season back in Oct. 2025 in Sydney, N.S.
Sophomore forward Cassie Gordon leads the Hurricanes with five goals and six points in six games. She scored once during the team’s first and only win – 3-0 – on Jan. 24 against Acadia in Wolfville, N.S.
Game times are 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 11:15 a.m. Sunday. Watch live at www.youtube.com/@GoCanesGo.
