Women’s volleyball player Morgan White and men’s volleyball player Carson Gray have been named the Holland Hurricanes Athletes of the Week for the week ending Feb. 16, 2025.

White, a fourth-year left-side from Charlottetown, P.E.I., earned Hurricanes Female Athlete of the Week and Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week honours for the second time this season after a stellar performance against the UNBSJ Seawolves last Sunday at the McMillan Centre. Although the Hurricanes lost 3-0 in their regular-season finale, White recorded 10 kills, five digs, and four service aces.

White and the women’s volleyball Hurricanes are set to chase after their second ACAA championship within three years at the 2025 ACAA Volleyball Championships next weekend at the McMillan Centre. They will play the STU Tommies in quarterfinal action on Friday, Feb. 21 at 1 p.m. If the Hurricanes win, they will advance to the semifinals and take on the first-seed Mount Allison Mounties on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 1 p.m.

Gray, a third-year left-side from Stratford, P.E.I. earned Hurricanes Male Athlete of the Week honours for the third time this season and Men’s Volleyball Player of the Week honours for the fourth time. On Sunday, he helped his team end their regular season campaign with a 3-1 win against the UNBSJ Seawolves at the McMillan Centre, which snapped a four-game losing streak. Gray recorded 19 kills, 10 digs, three service aces, and one assist; his 19 kills helped him surpass 500 career ACAA regular season kills.

Gray and the men’s volleyball Hurricanes are back in action next Saturday, Feb. 22 for 2025 ACAA Volleyball Championships semifinal competition at the McMillan Centre. They will fight the STU Tommies in a rematch of last year’s championships semifinals at 5 p.m., with the winner advancing to the finals against either USTA or UNBSJ on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 2:30 p.m.
