AOTW | Jenna O’Neill & Spencer Rossiter Named Hurricanes Athletes of the Week

Women’s volleyball player Jenna O’Neill and men’s basketball player Spencer Rossiter have been named the Holland Hurricanes Athletes of the Week for Feb. 2 to Feb. 8, 2026.

O’Neill, a fifth-year left-side from Cornwall, P.E.I., studying Business Administration, earned back-to-back Hurricanes Female Athlete of the Week honours after leading her team to two straight-set victories on Saturday, Feb. 7, and Sunday, Feb. 8. Holland defeated MSVU on the road and USTA at home 3-0.

O’Neill topped the charts in kills (24 total), hitting percentage (.411 average), and digs (22 total) over the weekend, and was a consistent and impactful presence on both sides of the ball. Her performances played a key role in the team's clinching a playoff spot.

The women’s volleyball Hurricanes conclude the regular season next weekend on the road against the Dalhousie Rams.

Rossiter, a fourth-year guard from Summerside, P.E.I., studying Sport and Recreation Management, had his best week as a Hurricane and was a driving force behind a remarkable 87-75 home-court win over the nationally-ranked Mount Saint Vincent Mystics on Sunday. The victory ended MSVU’s 12-game win streak and followed a close 95-85 loss on Saturday.

Across two games, Rossiter scored 39 points, went 9-for-20 from the three-point line, and added 13 rebounds and seven steals across 69 total minutes.

Rossiter has also been named the ACAA Athlete of the Week.

The men’s basketball Hurricanes will hit the road next weekend to face the St. Thomas Tommies.
