AOTW | Jenna O’Neill & Ben Perrin Named Hurricanes Athletes of the Week

Women’s volleyball player Jenna O’Neill and male track and field runner Ben Perrin have been named the Holland Hurricanes Athletes of the Week for the week ending Feb. 1, 2026.

O’Neill, a fifth-year left-side from Cornwall, P.E.I., studying Business Administration, helped the women’s volleyball Hurricanes achieve a perfect weekend on Saturday, Jan. 31, and Sunday, Feb. 1, at the McMillan Centre for Community Engagement (MCCE) in Charlottetown, P.E.I. The team defeated league-leading Mount Allison 3-1 on Saturday and Crandall 3-0 on Sunday.

O’Neill put together a season-best – and possibly career-best – performance over the weekend, notching 39 kills (25 on Saturday alone), 17 digs, and four blocks across the two victories.

O’Neill and the women’s volleyball Hurricanes head on the road to MSVU next Saturday, Feb. 7, and return home to host USTA on Sunday, Feb. 8.

Perrin and the track and field Hurricanes met in Saint John, N.B., this past weekend, for the 2026 NB Indoor Champs & University Invitational at the Irving Oil Field House.

Perrin made a significant accomplishment by competing in the Dave Thomas University Mile, a fast-paced, one-mile invitational run featuring elite Atlantic University Sport (AUS) runners. Perrin finished 34th out of 38 runners with a time of 4:46.11, 38 seconds off the best.

He also played a crucial role alongside three fellow Hurricanes runners in achieving a team time of 1:46.75 in the men’s 4x200-meter relay. His dedication and performance rightfully earn him the honour of being the first-ever track and field Hurricanes Athlete of the Week, marking a historic milestone for the new program and Holland College Athletics.
