AOTW | Jamie Spencer & Spencer Rossiter Named Hurricanes Athletes of the Week

Women’s volleyball player Jamie Spencer and men’s basketball player Spencer Rossiter have been named the Holland Hurricanes Athletes of the Week for the week ending Nov. 16, 2025.

Spencer, a fifth-year left-side from Fort Frances, Ontario, made her first start of the season this past Saturday and made an immediate impact in her return to the lineup.

In a straight-set victory (3-0) against the USTA Dragons on Saturday, Nov. 15, in Church Point, N.S., Spencer recorded nine kills and had only one error on 21 attempts. Her hitting percentage was high at .381, and she also added two service aces, two blocks, and seven digs.

Spencer and the women’s volleyball Hurricanes have a busy week ahead, with a rare Tuesday night match against Mount Allison on Nov. 18 in Sackville, N.B., and a pair of home games next Saturday, Nov. 22, and Sunday, Nov. 23, against UKC and Dalhousie.

Rossiter, a fourth-year guard/forward from Summerside, P.E.I., had a standout performance against the UNBSJ Seawolves on Saturday, Nov. 15, in Saint John, N.B.

While the Hurricanes lost 86-65, Rossiter scored 15 points on 6/13 shooting and contributed three steals and two assists across 27 minutes played.

Rossiter and the men’s basketball Hurricanes will begin the home portion of their regular-season campaign against the STU Tommies next Saturday, Nov. 22.
