Danielle Jackson, of Raleigh, North Carolina, has committed to attend Holland College and join the Hurricanes women’s basketball team for the 2021-2022. The 6’2” power forward currently plays for the Legacy Early College high school; she has also suited up for Carolina Prep where she was the team captain and most valuable player.
“We are excited to add Danielle to our program,” shared Hurricanes head coach, Chris Connolly. “Everyone we talked to couldn’t say enough about her attitude and work ethic. Her athleticism at her height and ability to stretch the floor will be a great asset to the team. She is a strong rebounder and we feel she will impact the game at both ends of the floor. We can’t wait to welcome her and her family to our campus in September and get to work.”
Jackson, the player with the highest grade-point-average (GPA) on her team, comes to Holland College with an impressive academic background, also having won the scholar academic award.
“I chose Holland College because of the diversity and the opportunity to study early childhood education in Canada. I’m also very excited to pursue my dream of playing next level basketball with coach Connolly and the women’s Hurricanes.”
On the court, Danielle was a member of the 2018 national varsity prep champions in South Carolina; she has led her team in offensive and defensive rebounds for the past three seasons.
“As a player my strengths are rebounding, shooting mid-range, working around the rim and being able to stretch the defensive. I also feel I’m a strong three-point shooter.”
During the 2019-20, the ‘Canes went 13-5 and finished third in the regular season standings before falling in the semi-finals to the eventual conference champions, the Mount Saint Vincent University (MSVU) Mystics.
As coach Connolly continue to rebuild the Hurricanes roster, Jackson will no-doubt play a large role in the team’s success.
“I am looking forward to attending Holland College and bringing passion and consistency to the Hurricanes.”
