The Holland Hurricanes are set to visit the University of New Brunswick (UNB) Red Bombers on Saturday in Atlantic Football League (AFL) playoff action. The semi-final game is set for 6pm at Scotia South field in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
This will be a rematch of last week’s final regular season game where the ‘Canes used a big second-half to earn the 38-29 win in Cornwall at the Terry Fox Sports Complex.
UNB, 4-2, enters the playoffs as the second seed, while the ‘Canes, 3-3, enter at number three.
“The guys are exhibiting a lot of energy coming into this week’s semi-final game,” shared Hurricanes head coach, Aaron MacIsaac. “Last week’s game was a good test. We did things well but we had a lot to improve. Practice has been good and the coaching staff is implementing the corrections to help us be successful this weekend.”
The Hurricanes and Red Bombers split the season-series in 2021, with UNB winning the season opener on September 19 in Fredericton, 43-8.
This is also a rematch of the 2019 AFL Championship game, where UNB scored in the final minute to claim the title.
