Basketball ‘Canes taking on UKC in Halifax this Sunday

The Holland Hurricanes men’s and women’s basketball teams travel to Halifax, Nova Scotia on Sunday for back-to-back Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) regular season games versus the University of King’s College (UKC) Blue Devils.

The women’s game, beginning at 2pm, features the 9-3 Hurricanes who sit in a tie for second place in the standings, and the 8-4 Blue Devils who are ranked fourth in the ACAA.

Nationally, the ‘Canes women sit at number eight in this week’s CCAA rankings.

In one previous game versus the Blue Devils, the ‘Canes won 74-70 on January 18 in Charlottetown.

The men’s Hurricanes enter the weekend at 9-3 and in a tie for first place in the ACAA standings alongside the Mount Allison University Mounties and St. Thomas University (STU) Tommies.  They’re also sitting at number 13 in this week’s CCAA national rankings.  UKC sits at 2-10 and in seventh in the conference.

The ‘Canes have won the one matchup versus the Blue Devils this season, an 88-54 win on January 18 at the Holland College Centre for Community Engagement (CCE).  Sunday’s game begins at 4pm.

The Hurricanes next home games take place on Friday, February 14 when they host the Crandall University Chargers at the CCE at 5 and 7pm (w/m).
