Board of Governors welcomes new leadership


The Holland College Board of Governors recently announced the re-appointment of Jessie Inman, MBA, ICD.D, CLaS, as Chairperson of the Board for her second term, and to welcome Carl Chapman as Vice-Chair of the Board and Chair of the Finance Committee.

Jessie Inman was appointed to the Board of Governors in November of 2020.  She also serves as the Chair of the Governance and Nominating Committee.  Jessie has led a dynamic corporate career in Canada and abroad for over 35 years. She is the recipient of a number of accolades and awards, and was named one of Atlantic Canada’s Top 50 CEOs by Atlantic Business Magazine for three consecutive years during her mandate as CEO of the Confederation Centre of the Arts in Charlottetown, P.E.I.  Ms. Inman studied commerce, international marketing and leadership, before completing an MBA from Maastricht University majoring in banking and finance and is a certified Director by the Canadian Institute of Corporate Directors.  She has served on numerous boards, including the Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce, and Discover Charlottetown. She is an Honorary Board Member to A Bold Vision, and was an advisor to PEI 2014 Inc., the Selection Committee for the Manning Awards, and the YWCA in Calgary. Ms. Inman was Vice-President of the Indonesia Canada Chamber of Commerce for nine years and on the Board of Governors for the United States Chamber of Commerce in Australia.

Carl Chapman, CPA, CA, CBV, has been an active member of the Board of Governors and the Finance Committee since June 2022.  He is a highly skilled business professional with a 30-year track record providing advice to management, business owners, directors, employees and other key stakeholders regarding financial, operational, strategic decision-making, accounting and auditing, and general business and organizational planning. Mr. Chapman has strong financial acumen – both from his education and his career.  He is Vice President of Finance and a key member of the management team for Bulk Carriers and group of companies, where he is responsible for all aspects of the groups' strategic planning and execution, financial reporting, risk management, monthly costing and profit margin analysis, development of benchmarking for assessing company performance, complete capital equipment projections, and negotiating appropriate debt financing. He also prepares and leads results to achieve strategic goals and focus the direction of the business. Mr. Chapman was a Partner, Senior Manager, and Manager with Grant Thornton from 1992 to 2010. He will also serve as a member of the Governance and Nominating Committee.
