AOTW | Abbey Gordon & Jaidon Martin Named Hurricanes Athletes of the Week

Women’s hockey player Abbey Gordon and men’s basketball player Jaidon Martin have been named the Holland Hurricanes Athletes of the Week for Feb. 16 to Feb. 22, 2026.

Gordon, a fourth-year forward from Murray Harbour, P.E.I., played a key role in helping the Hurricanes achieve their first doubleheader sweep of the season and extend their win streak to three games. Holland defeated the league-leading Acadia Axewomen 3-1 and 2-1 this past weekend at the Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown, P.E.I.

With the team short on defense, Gordon was given an additional responsibility to help out on the backend. She was strong on both sides of the ice all weekend and scored the game-winning goal in the team’s 2-1 victory on Sunday, Feb. 22.

The women’s hockey Hurricanes finish the regular season this upcoming weekend (Feb. 28-March 1), visiting the Cape Breton Capers in Sydney, N.S., for a two-game series.

Martin, a third-year guard from East York, Ontario, performed strongly in a pair of regular-season-ending losses to the UNBSJ Seawolves this past weekend at the McMillan Centre for Community Engagement in Charlottetown, P.E.I.

Across two games, Martin played 43 minutes, scoring 18 points on 4/9 shooting from three-point range and adding two assists.

The men’s basketball Hurricanes are now preparing for the 2026 ACAA Men’s Basketball Championships, scheduled for March 6-8 in Halifax, N.S.
