Hurricanes add soccer sensation from Guinea
August 4, 2014
Ibra Sanoh has committed to the Holland Hurricanes for the 2014-2015 school year. Ibra, from Conakry, Guinea currently plays for the Bayern FC in the PEI senior men’s premier league; he’s currently leading the league in goal scoring with 13 goals in 13 games.
In 2012-2013 Sanoh was a member of the UPEI Panthers where he was voted as the teams Rookie of the Year. He’s been playing soccer on Prince Edward Island since 2011 and has been recognized as one of the most exciting goal scorers during his time on P.E.I.
“Ibra has the ability to be an impact player in the ACAA. His speed and skills make him a difficult player to contain. We will look to him to provide goals and opportunities for his teammates. We’re very excited to have him on our team”, shared head coach of the Hurricanes, Jonathan Vos.
The Hurricanes will open up their 2014 training camp in late August in preparation for the ACAA season. Last year the ‘Canes were the ACAA silver medalists after a loss to the MSVU Mystics in the championship game at the ACAA Championships.
The ‘Canes start their season on the road on Saturday, September 6th when they visit the St. Thomas Tommies in Fredericton. The team’s home opener takes place on Saturday, September 13th at 2pm (women’s) and 4pm (men’s) at the Terry Fox Complex in Cornwall versus the Dalhousie Agricultural College Rams.
