- With 50 years of experience and continuous growth, Telecon is looking to fill a position of Splicer, fiber optic in his Wireline division in the province of New Brunswick, based out our Saint-John office.
•Splicing, testing, and troubleshooting of fibre sites and links
•Documenting and reporting on completed telecommunication work
•Ensuring all attended sites are clearly labelled
•Locating faults and mobilizing resources within minimal time to counter fault
•Reviewing engineered plans and blueprints
•Responsible of wiring fiber, coax, CAT 5 and CAT 6 cable into commercial and/or institutional building for different type of services
•Termination and connectors
•Proficient in fibre cable termination with connectors
•2 years’ experience in outside plant fiber splicing (Rogers, Bell, Telus, Eastlink…)
•Well versed in fusion splicing machine technique
•Experience using FO troubleshooting tools (i.e. OTDR)
•Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
•Ability to work in all weather conditions, confined spaces, isolation
•Ability to work in a physically demanding atmosphere including, but is not limited to: carry, raise and climb a ladder, carry, lift and handle heavy equipment (manhole covers, cable reels)
•Self-disciplined, motivated and organized •Diploma in cabling/telecommunication a strong asset
•Health and Safety oriented •Good computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
•Available to travel (20%)
•Valid driver’s license, class 3 an asset, with a clean driver abstract
