Description
This venipuncture course is designed for students who have completed recognized programs in Practical Nursing or Registered Nursing (Diploma or Baccalaureate). The course will provide students with theory and lab practice instruction. The course is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge required to obtain a peripheral venous blood sample from adults using syringe and vacutainer systems, at an entry level to practice.

As standards change within the Nursing profession outcomes and competencies change. This course is provided to nurses who wish to upgrade their skills.



Prerequisites:
Open only to Licensed Practical Nurses and Registered Nurses or Radiography students who have completed their course.



Text:
Course manual will be available in the admissions department of Holland College upon payment for the course. tudents are asked to review the course manual prior to the beginning of the course, paying particular attention to the anatomy and physiology of vessels section.



Notes:
Students will be required to write a multiple choice quiz and pass a lab practice exam to complete this course.
