Jessica Wakelin Recieves Hurricanes Bell Aliant Award
Wednesday, April 4, 2012

Keith Lambe, BellAliant Regional Manager PEI presents Jessica with her Bell Aliant award
Bell Aliant Achievement Award - In recognition of a student who has demonstrated outstanding athletic ability, academic excellence and the qualities of leadership, citizenship and community involvement.
This year's recipient portrays all of these components with finesse. During her two years at Holland College, this Hurricane has made and impact on student life at Holland College through many functions. She is known to her peers a cheerful, ever positive contributor student life at Holland College. Over the past two years she has played for the Holland Hurricanes women's Basketball and Volleyball teams, as well as maintaining her role at the Student Union President. It is no secret now that I am speaking of Jessica Wakelin.
Jessica can often be found supporting her fellow Hurricanes in any sport. Most recently, she represented fans at the ACAA Basketball Championships as the letter "I". Great support Jessica!
When she is not directly involved with Hurricane's activities, Jessica is a key contributor to the community through her work at Camp Gencheff, as well as her work with a Tremploy group through her studies at Holland College.
Jessica leads a very busy life, all the while manages to keep good academic standing in the Sport and Leisure Management program as well as play a very supportive role to her friends. In January, Jessica flew out to Calgary to be at Shayna Conway's side during a very difficult time and represented Shayna at the memorial for Mitchell MacLean, Tanner Craswell and Tabitha Stepple. Jessica is always met with a smile and seems to have time for anything and everyone.
So it is fitting that we award Jessica with the Bell Aliant Award.
