2012 ACAA Basketball Championships: Tommies advance to ACAA Womens Basketball Championship Game

The top women's seed at the 2012 ACAA Basketball Championships has moved on to the championship game with a dominant 100-40 win over the No. 4 seed Holland Hurricanes. The Tommies will face the winner of the MSVU and MTA semifinal in Sunday's title game. The Tommies used tremendous pressure and great ball movement to dismantle the Hurricanes attack this afternoon. STU jumped out to a 30-10 first quarter lead. The best quarter for the ‘Canes was the second, losing it 19-15. It was 49-25 STU at the half. After the half-time break it was all Tommies as they fed off of the boisterous home crowd and quickly built a massive lead over the Hurricanes.

STU was led by player of the game Kelly Vass. Vass scored 27 points on 9-12 shooting. She also grabbed 10 rebounds from the guard position, dished out five assists and had three steals. Brittany Gillis was also solid scoring 14 points. Renee Leblanc and Hillary Goodine added 12 and 10 respectively.

Rickeia Richardson was the leading scorer for HC, counting 11 points. Player of the game Lindy MacDonald had eight and Brittany Leblanc added six.

STU out-rebounded HC 44-34. The ‘Canes committed 34 turnovers while STU had 12.
