Soccer players Darren Lundrigan and Katelyn Peters are this week's Holland Hurricanes Athletes of the Week.

Lundrigan led the Holland Hurricanes Men's Soccer team to an ACAA Soccer Championship as the Hurricanes defeated the UNBSJ Seawolves 3-2 Tuesday night in Saint John. The men's championship game was called on Sunday afternoon due to weather and was replayed Tuesday night.

In the final, Lundrigan, a Montague, Prince Edward Island native set-up the first Hurricanes goal. He then stepped it up a notch, scoring the second and game-winning third goal to power his team to the title.

In Saturday's semi-final, Darren also came out big, scoring the game-winning goal in the Hurricanes 2-1 victory over King's College.

Darren is a second-year Sport and Leisure Management student at Holland College.

Peters, a first-year Sport and Leisure Management student led the women's soccer team to a semi-final win over MSVU on Saturday. Sunday, the Hurricanes fell in the ACAA Championship Game in heartbreaking fashion losing 1-0 to the King's College Blue Devils.

In Saturday's semi-final win, Peters was named the player of the game. Her strong physical defensive play was evident and she scored the only goal of the match. In Sunday's final Peters fought through injury and was instrumental in pushing the Canes to within a goal of the conference title.

Peters was chosen as an ACAA first team all-star in her rookie season with the Hurricanes. Katelyn is from Amherst, NS.
