EAL Day Program - English as an Additional Language

The fee-payer EAL program offers English in a friendly, relaxed environment. The multi-level small class ensures individual attention. Every effort is made to meet students' individual needs. Training is provided from Canadian Language Benchmark Levels 1-8 in reading, writing, speaking and listening. Students who complete Level 8 would be capable of functioning in a college or university program. The program is designed to permit plenty of EAL activity both inside and outside the classroom environment. EAL Night Program - English as an Additional Language

With an emphasis on conversational English, this program offers participants the chance to learn and improve their proficiency in speaking English. Participants practice oral communication at a variety of levels, participate in computer-based language training and acquire basic English skills in small groups and individualized learning. Various teaching approaches are used: communicative, thematic and functional. Classes also provide structured grammar lessons.

Eligibility/Costs

  • For participants who are Canadian Citizens or have a Permanent Resident Card this program is free of charge and is funded by the PEI Department of Education.
  • For participants who possess visas from other countries and who are presently residing in Canada (student visa/visitor visa) the cost of this program is $195 per 10 week term.

Fee & Refund Information for English as a Second Language (EAL) program for International Students

  1. A $100 Canadian (CAD), non-refundable, application fee will be charged for all international student applications to the EAL program. The application fee is waived for additional EAL sessions taken in the same year.
  2. Students who exit the EAL program within two weeks from the course commencement will be granted a refund less a $500.00 administrative fee. No refunds will be granted after the second week of enrollment. A refund may be granted if the student exits for medical reasons and supplies a medical certificate.
