Our Philosophy

Active Learning

The philosophy of active learning through an emergent and play-based curriculum is taught in the adult classroom and then modeled in the Early Learning Centre.

Play-Based Learning

We believe children learn through their play while the staff provide a safe, stimulating environment and developmentally appropriate activities.

Emergent Curriculum

The ideas for these activities are gathered from the children themselves through mind maps, observations, and meetings.

Facilitate Learning

It is important that children are given the opportunity to learn and develop to their full potential with the assistance of their families and their group leaders.

A definite asset in any quality program is the belief that all children are accepted and celebrated for who they are.

The importance of meeting children at their level of development and building from there is vital to their well-being. It is the staff members’ ability to do this which has maintained the Centre’s reputation for high quality care and early education.

Life Long Learners

The goal of our program is to prepare children with the skills necessary to achieve success in life-long learning, and in life within the school system and their communities.

Achieving Our Goals

Our program’s goals are achieved through building positive self-esteem and helping bring awareness of how one’s actions impact ourselves and others. We strive to develop appropriate social behaviours and encourage self-direction in multiple situations. We provide opportunities to foster independent choice making throughout our program. Experiencing language and literacy, art, drama, math, science, nature, good health practices and other skill building activities fosters the desire to continually learn about all things, whether curriculum related or an interest of the child.
