Music Performance students prepare for final showcase of the year
March 26, 2018
Charlottetown, PE – Students from Holland College’s Music Performance program will be holding their final showcase of the year Thursday, April 5 at 7:30 at the Florence Simmons Performance Hall.
The showcases, which have quickly become a must-see event for Island music lovers, will feature the best music each of the ensembles have worked on over the last semester in a wide range of musical styles, including pop and R&B, jazz and Latin, and improv, and selections by artists such as Amy Winehouse, Stevie Wonder, Paramore, Ella Fitzgerald, and Pat Metheny.
The Music Performance program is part of Holland College’s School of Performing Arts, a partnership with Confederation Centre of the Arts, and has been attracting students from all over the world for the past few years, in part because of an articulation agreement Holland College has with Berklee College of Music.
“Our students include young people from the Island and from across the region, as well as students from as far away as Zimbabwe. The support of the Island community for these students really enriches their learning experience,” said Liam Corcoran, program manager for SoPA. “The showcases give the students the invaluable experience of performing in front of a live audience.”
Tickets are $10 and are available at the Florence Simmons Performance Hall box office in the Charlottetown Centre on Holland College’s Prince of Wales Campus, 140 Weymouth Street, Charlottetown, or from Music Performance faculty.
