Hurricanes face Seawolves in Thanksgiving Day game
October 11, 2013
Charlottetown, PE – The battle for play-off positions continues as the fourth-place Holland Hurricanes Football Club faces the second-place Saint John Seawolves on Thanksgiving Sunday afternoon at UPEI Alumni Canada Games Place. The Seawolves are coming off a 14-7 loss to the Dalhousie Tigers, while the Hurricanes are still smarting from a 44-29 loss to the UNB Red Bombers in Fredericton last weekend.
This weekend’s game will be the first ever Holland College homecoming game. Card carrying Holland College alumni will be admitted free of charge, and there will be a half-time Thanksgiving turkey toss. The tailgate party will be catered by Papa John’s.
“We’re hoping that a Hurricanes Thanksgiving Homecoming game becomes part of Islanders’ Thanksgiving tradition,” said Hurricanes President Mike O’Grady. Game time is 1 p.m. For more information about the Hurricanes, visit hcfootball.ca.
As has been proven time and again, this season and in previous seasons, there is great parity in the Atlantic Football League, and Sunday’s contest is expected to be another thriller. This is the last regular season home game for the 2013 season. Final league standings after the last regular game, against Dalhousie on October 19 will determine whether the Hurricanes will host a playoff game.
