Conservation Enforcement Squad 18 celebrates graduation

Charlottetown, PE – Twenty cadets graduated from the Conservation Enforcement program of the Atlantic Police Academy in a ceremony held at the Atlantic Police Academy recently. Guest speaker was
Wade MacKinnon, Section Head, Investigation and Enforcement, Prince Edward Island Department of Environment, Labour and Justice. Cadet Patrick DesRoches was the student speaker.
The Conservation Enforcement Officers Association of Nova Scotia Award was presented to cadets Dylan Decker and Katlin Young. Decker was also the recipient of the Canadian Federal Wildlife Officers Association Award and the New Brunswick Department of Natural Resources Award. The PEI Conservation Officer Award for top marksman was presented to cadet Benjamin O’Donnell.
The 16-week Conservation Enforcement program provides training to wildlife and forestry technicians. Students acquire the skills and knowledge they need for a career in conservation enforcement. They will be prepared for work in natural resources agencies as conservation enforcement officers and in other related fields of enforcement and security throughout Canada.
