APA graduates Police Science (Cadet) squadrons 103 and 104

Charlottetown, PE – The Atlantic Police Academy celebrated the graduation of the 60 Police Science cadets of squads 103 and 104 with a ceremony at the Harbourfront Theatre in Summerside recently.

Chief Leanne Fitch, Chief of the Fredericton Police Force was the guest speaker. Cadet Kristen MacKay was the student speaker. The Sir Robert Peel Award, which is presented to the cadet whose commitment best exemplifies proactive community policing, was awarded to Mitchell Bailey; the Philip Andrew Coulton Memorial Award, presented to the cadet most dedicated to community service and esprit de corps in law enforcement, was awarded to Michael Jones. Matt Tingley received the Chief Robert Innes Memorial Award at the cadet who displayed outstanding leadership; and Justin Brennan received the Harvey O. Brown Memorial Award for highest academic achievement. The PEI Association of Chiefs of Police award was presented to Mitchell Bailey for the best ethics in policing essay, and Kristen MacKay received the Hood Crossman Memorial Award as the best all-round cadet. Todd Carr received both the Comradeship Award for outstanding personal attributes and the Chief David P. MacKinnon Award for leadership through teamwork. The Miramichi Association of Police Professionals Award, for the male cadet who best displays leadership in fitness, was presented to Christian Albrecht; and the Atlantic Women in Law Enforcement Award, for the female cadet who best displays leadership in fitness, was presented to Andrea Vriend.
