Charlottetown – Women’s soccer player Laura Younker and men’s golfer Eric Locke have been chosen as the Hurricanes Athletes of the Week for the week ending September 22.
Younker, a mid-fielder from Charlottetown, PEI played two strong defensive games over the weekend and provided offensive support as well. The Hurricanes defeated the UNBSJ Seawolves on Saturday 2-0 while falling to the STU Tommies on Sunday 1-0. Younker, a second year Travel and Tourism Management student, is also a member of the Holland College Student Union executive.
The women’s soccer Hurricanes travel to Halifax this weekend to take on the MSVU Mystics on Saturday and the UKC Blue Devils on Sunday. The Hurricanes currently hold a 3-2-1 record and sit in third place in the ACAA standings.
Locke, a member of the Hurricanes golf team, posted a 73 in difficult scoring conditions during Saturday’s ACAA event hosted by the Saint Thomas University at the Mactaquac Golf Course. Locke finished tied as the low individual for the event and helped lead the Hurricanes to the victory in the team competition. Locke recently won the seven round Hurricanes qualifying event played at courses all over Prince Edward Island.
This Sunday the Hurricanes continue their ACAA tournament schedule when they travel to Northumberland Links in Pugwash, Nova Scotia for an event hosted by the Dalhousie University Agricultural Campus.
