WVBALL | Hurricanes sweep home-and-home with Dal AC Rams

The Holland Hurricanes women’s volleyball team won all six sets of their home-and-home with the Dal AC Rams on the weekend. On Saturday the ‘Canes won by set scores of 25-22, 25-18, and 26-24 while on Sunday they won by set scores of 25-13, 25-21, 25-10.
On Saturday, Megan LeBlanc led the way with 16 kills with Philicia Johnson, Brittany States, and Lauren Moerike all recording five.
Gracie Ferguson had a match-high 31 assists while Sam Gerbig led the way in digs with 12. Dana Trainor added eight digs while LeBlanc had seven and Ferguson six.
On Sunday, the ‘Canes attack was once again led by LeBlanc who recorded 14 kills along with three aces and 11 digs; States added seven digs with Gerbig picking up six.
Ferguson and Emma Joudrey split setting duties recording 17 and 11 assists respectively while Trainor led the way in digs with a match-high 19 in the win.
The pair of wins moves the ‘Canes to 9-3 on the season and in fourth place in the ACAA standings. They are just two points behind the Mystics, Tommies and Seawolves who all are tied for top spot in the conference. Meanwhile, the Rams fall to 1-11 on the season and are in seventh place.
The ‘Canes return to action next weekend as they host the UNBSJ Seawolves for back-to-back home games. Game time on Saturday is set for 6 PM and on Sunday at 12 PM at the Holland College Centre for Community Engagement.
