October 30, 2017
The Holland Hurricanes ringette team travelled to Halifax, NS on the weekend to play two games versus the Dalhousie Tigers to kick off their inaugural season.
On Saturday the ‘Canes dropped a close game by a score of 7-6.
The Hurricanes received goals from Alysha Corrigan (3,0), Isabelle Saunders (1,1), Sidney Corrigan (1,1) and Amy Mole (1-0) while Sue-Ellen McInnis (3), Sarah MacIssac (1) and Olivia Gill (1) were credited with assists.
Hurricanes head coach Steve Gallaway was very happy with what he saw with his club.
“We were pleased with the efforts from all the girls this weekend. We were impressed with the girl’s desire to win and how our leaders took charge and helped the girls quickly come together as a team.”
The Hurricanes looked to bounce back in Sunday’s rematch with the Tigers but eventually fell short in another close contest losing 5-4.
The ‘Canes received goals from Alysha Corrigan (2,1), Sidney Corrigan (1,2) and Olivia Gill (1, 0).
The Hurricanes are reaching team expectations echoed Coach Gallaway.
“We will study the loss and learn from it. Our main goal for this year was to be competitive, we have already accomplished this early so we will now set some new goals.”
The next scheduled games for the Hurricanes will see them travel to Antigonish, NS to play games against the St. FX X-Women on Saturday November 25, 2017.
