Women’s Volleyball open season with pair of losses

Kendra Dawkins from Nassau, Bahamas led the Hurricanes with six kills in Saturday’s home game versus the Dal-AC Rams.

The Hurricanes women’s volleyball team began their 2013 ACAA regular season at home on the weekend when they hosted the Dal-AC Rams for games on Saturday and Sunday.

Entering the game the Rams were 1-0 on the season.

In Saturday’s game the Rams went up 2-0 with wins in the first two games 25-18 and 25-17 respectively. The Hurricanes pushed back in the third game ultimately falling by a score of 26-24.

Kendra Dawkins led the Hurricanes with six kills in the game.

On Sunday the teams met again for an 11 am start which seen the Rams continue their solid play from the night before. With 25-13 and 25-22 wins in the first two games the Rams closed out the match with a 25-16 win in the third game.

With the two victories the Dal-AC Rams sit on top of the ACAA standings with a perfect 3-0 record while the Hurricanes drop to 0-2 on the season.

Next up for the Hurricanes are the MSVU Mystics at home when they host two games at the CCE this Saturday (2 pm) and Sunday (11 am).
