The Holland Hurricanes women’s hockey team will complete their 2013-2014 Eastern Canadian Women’s Collegiate Hockey League regular season this weekend when they host the Cape Breton University Capers at the Gateway Arena in Borden.

Saturday’s game will take place at 7pm while Sunday’s game will get underway at 12:30pm.

“We are all very excited to play CBU again this weekend on home ice, we got our first big win last weekend against the capers and are hoping to get two more this weekend”, said last week’s Hurricanes female Athlete of the Week Ashley Lunn.

The Hurricanes (1-7-2) enter the weekend sitting in fourth place in the ECWHL standings, trailing the CBU Capers (2-4-2) by just two points. These two teams played each other last weekend in Cape Breton with CBU winning Saturday’s game 3-2 and the ‘Canes winning Sunday’s game 5-4.

“We’re really looking forward to this weekend, I feel since coming back from the Christmas break we have been playing better and we have started to get rewarded for it on the scoreboard. We need a big effort from everyone this weekend if we want to be successful”, shared head coach Morgan Rice.

The Hurricanes and Capers will join teams from Acadia University and UNB on March 15th and 16th in Fredericton for the ECWHL League Championships.
