WHKY | Hurricanes to host UNB in final regular season home games

whkyfeb1819The Holland College Hurricanes women’s hockey team will face off against the University of New Brunswick this weekend in the ‘Canes final two home games of the season.

The ‘Canes will enter play with an 8-1-1 record and 17 points which has them leading the league standings. UNB are in second place with a 6-4-0 record and 12 points.

Brailyne Jenkins and Alyssa Ferguson of the Hurricanes are currently tied for first in the point’s race with 13; both players have six goals and seven assists on the year.

Hailey Matthews leads the league in goals scored with seven and is third in points with nine.

The ‘Canes are 3-1 against UNB this year with wins on November 4 and 5 in Fredericton before splitting games at the Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown on November 19 and 20.

Both games this weekend will be played at the Eastlink Centre with puck drop set for 7:30 PM on Saturday and 3:00 PM on Sunday.

The Hurricanes are the defending league champions and will look to repeat in 2017 at the Atlantic Championships hosted by UNB on March 31-April 2.
