WHKY | Hurricanes to host Acadia Axewomen in weekend action

The Holland Hurricanes women’s hockey team will host the Acadia Axewomen in regular season action on the weekend at the Eastlink Centre in Charlottetown. On Saturday the teams will play at 7pm followed by an 11am matchup on Sunday.
The ‘Canes enter play with a 6-1-1 (won-lost-tied) record and 13 points which leads the standings while the Axewomen enter play at 1-6-1 and three points which has them third in the league.
The ‘Canes have picked up three wins and a tie against the Axewomen so far this season.
On December 3 the Hurricanes picked up a 5-0 victory before settling for a 2-2 tie on December 4; both games were played in Wolfville, NS. On January 14 the Hurricanes defeated the Axewomen 4-1 before picking up a 7-3 win on January 15 in Summerside at the Credit Union Place.
The ‘Canes have the top four scorers in the league led by Hailey Matthews with nine points. Brailyne Jenkins and Alyssa Ferguson both have eight points while Melissa French is tied for fourth with five points.
Both Hurricanes goaltenders have had strong seasons so far.
Kara Mason has a 2-1 record with a 1.33 goals-against-average while rookie Mackenzie Koughan is 4-0-1 with two shutouts and a 1.67 goals-against-average.
