WHKY | Hurricanes ready to host Acadia on home ice
November 10, 2017
The Holland Hurricanes will host their first home games of the season this weekend when the Acadia Axewomen travel to PEI. Saturday’s game is scheduled for 7:30pm at the North Star Arena in Rustico while Sunday’s game takes place at 3pm at the Cavendish Farms Wellness Centre in Montague.
The Hurricanes are 1-1 this season while the Axewomen are 1-3; UNB leads the standings at 2-0.
Second year player Annika Mason is ready to get back on home ice.
“We’re hoping to come out of this weekend with two solid performances,” she shared. “We fell short last Saturday but bounced back on Sunday with a better game. We will have to keep the tempo up for the full game.”
In the previous two matchups between these teams, the Axewomen would take the first meeting 2-1 while the ‘Canes would win the rematch 5-0; both games took place in Wolfville, NS.
Mason, Taylor Joyce (2), Nicole Gallant, Sam Higgins and Katelyn Dunn have all scored for the ‘Canes this season while Mackenzie Koughan was in goal for the Hurricanes shutout victory.
The Hurricanes will test themselves against the first place University of New Brunswick on November 18 and 19 in Fredericton, NB.
