Volleyball Hurricanes host Mounties for weekend games

The men’s and women’s Hurricanes are at home this weekend for back to back home games on Saturday and Sunday when they take on the St. Thomas University Tommies at the Centre for Community Engagement.
The women’s team will kick things off at 4 pm on Saturday as they take on the women’s Tommies who are sitting as the number two team in the CCAA national women’s volleyball rankings; they are currently 3-2 on the season while the Hurricanes sit at 0-5.
“We have had some high intensity practices this week and we are hoping to carry that intensity through to our games this weekend. With a few changes to our lineup we are eager to get a win before the break”, shared head coach Lori-Beth Dwyer.
The two teams will meet again on Sunday morning at 11 am for the Hurricanes final game of 2013.
Emily Caldwell is excited about the test of playing the Tommies.
“We have been given a great opportunity by our two great coaches to train and prepare, I strongly believe we will compete well and we as a team desire a great outcome.”
The men’s Hurricanes get things underway at 6 pm on Saturday as they take on the 4-0 Tommies; the Hurricanes sit at 2-2 on the season and are in second place. These two teams met on November 16th and 17th seeing the Tommies defeat the Hurricanes in both games.
Sunday’s game takes place at 1 pm and is also the Hurricanes final game before the Christmas break.
