VBALL | Hurricanes set to open home portion of second semester

jan1415vballThe Holland College Hurricanes men’s and women’s volleyball teams will host the UNBSJ Seawolves and Dal AC Rams in weekend action at the Holland College Centre for Community Engagement in Charlottetown on Saturday and Sunday.

The women’s ‘Canes sit at 10-1 on the season to lead the conference and are currently ranked #9 in the country by the CCAA. They will host the Dal AC Rams in a re-match of last Sunday’s game where the ‘Canes won 3-0.

The ‘Canes currently lead the ACAA in assists per set, aces per set and points per set while sitting second in kills per set, blocks per set and hitting percentage.

Individually Gracie Ferguson leads the conference averaging 6.95 assists per set while Dana Trainor is first in total digs with 156 and second in digs per set with an average of 4.11.

The Rams come into play with a 1-8 record and sit in a tie for seventh place in the ACAA. The ‘Canes lead the season series 1-0 after last weekend’s win.

Game time is set for 12:30pm on Saturday afternoon.

The ‘Canes men enter play in first place in the ACAA with a 6-2 record on the season and are ranked #14 in the country by the CCAA.

The ‘Canes sit atop the conference in kills per set, hitting percentage, assists per set and points per set.

Individually, Dominique Ryan and Nathan Archibald sit third and fourth in assists per set in the ACAA averaging 6.41 and 5.57 respectively; Ryan is also second in the conference with 15 service aces and an average of 0.56 per set.

The Seawolves come into play with a 5-3 record and sit in second place in the ACAA; the ‘Canes will be looking to avenge a five set loss to the Seawolves on November 6th.

Game times are set for 7pm on Saturday night and 11:30am Sunday morning.
