VBALL | ‘Canes on road in Nova Scotia for regular season games this weekend

January 12, 2018

The Holland Hurricanes men’s and women’s volleyball teams head to Nova Scotia this weekend for three ACAA regular season games.

On Saturday the women take on the MSVU Mystics at 2pm in Halifax while the men take on the Université de Sainte-Anne Dragons at 7pm in Church Point; on Sunday the women visit the UKC Blue Devils at 12pm.

The women’s Hurricanes enter the weekend at 6-2 and in third place in the ACAA standings while the Mystics (10-0) lead the conference and UKC (4-3) sits in fifth.

Earlier this season the ‘Canes dropped a pair of games to the Mystics in Charlottetown in five and four sets on November 25 and 26 respectively; this is the first meeting of the season between the ‘Canes and Blue Devils.

The Mystics are the only nationally ranked team from the ACAA this week sitting at number ten.

The women’s ‘Canes play at home next on January 20 when they host the Dal AC Rams at 1pm at the Holland College Centre for Community Engagement.

The men’s Hurricanes enter the weekend in first place in the ACAA standings with a 7-1 record while the Dragons have struggled to a 0-6 record.

In previous matchups on November 18 and 19, the ‘Canes earned wins over the Dragons in Charlottetown in straight sets.

This week the CCAA placed the Hurricanes at number 13 in their national rankings; they are the only ACAA team that is ranked.

The next home games for the men’s volleyball ‘Canes take place on January 27 and 28 when they host the UNBSJ Seawolves for a pair of games at the Holland College Centre for Community Engagement.
