Varsity Hurricanes Golf earn second victory of the season in Nova Scotia

Women’s Golf

Hurricanes Tariqah Walikraam picked up her second ACAA victory of the season on Sunday at the Northumberland Links golf course in Pugwash, Nova Scotia after firing an 81, winning by five shots over Mount Allison golfer Kara Anthony.

Walikraam also won last weekend’s event at Mactaquac Golf Club.

Men’s Golf

The men’s Hurricanes golf team entered their second team competition of the season when they joined Mount Allison University and St. Thomas University on Sunday at Northumberland Links. The event was hosted by the Dalhousie Agricultural College. The Hurricanes won last weekend’s team event hosted by St. Thomas University.

The men’s team was led by rookie Neal Ryan and second year player Brett Wilson who both posted rounds of 73 as the Hurricanes went on to win the team competition by 48 strokes over the St. Thomas University. Ryan and Wilson went on to finish as low individuals in the event. This is Wilson’s second straight individual title this season.

Next up for the Hurricanes is the ACAA Championship played at the Links at Crowbush Cove and hosted by Holland College. The two day event takes place on October 5th and 6th. The team will then travel to Quebec City for the 2013 CCAA Ping National Championships that take place on October 15th to 18th at the Royal Quebec Golf Club.
