Spicer and Hood chosen as Hurricanes Athletes of the Week

AOTWSept8Cornwall – Soccer players Megan Spicer and Simon Hood have been chosen as the Holland Hurricanes Athletes of the Week for the week ending September 8.

Spicer, a forward for the women’s soccer team scored twice in the 36’ and 61’ to help the Hurricanes tie the Mount Saint Vincent Mystics 2-2 in Saturday’s season opening game. The Hurricanes also played on Sunday versus the University of Kings College, falling 2-0. Both games took place at the Terry Fox Complex in Cornwall.

The Sport & Leisure Management student from Sussex, New Brunswick is beginning her second year with the soccer Hurricanes after being chosen as the 2012-2013 Holland Hurricanes female Athlete of the Year.

Hood, from Charlottetown, PE scored the Hurricanes loan goal this weekend in their 1-1 tie with the University of Kings College Blue Devils on Sunday afternoon. Hood also played a strong game on Saturday versus the MSVU Mystics which seen the game end in a 0-0 tie.

The Business Admin student was the Hurricanes 2011-2012 male Athlete of the Year.

Both the men’s and women’s teams will be at home this Saturday versus the Dalhousie Agricultural College Rams at 2pm and 4pm before travelling to Moncton to take on the Crandall University Chargers on Sunday.
