The Holland Hurricanes men’s and women’s soccer teams will complete their 2013 ACAA regular season home schedule this Wednesday when they host the Crandall University Chargers at the Terry Fox Complex in Cornwall.

The women’s team heads into Wednesdays game with a 4-3-2 record and currently sits in fourth place in the ACAA league standings. The top four ranked teams will qualify for the ACAA championships hosted by Holland College on October 25th and 26th.

“With three games remaining we need to be focused and play to our potential. Playing three high quality teams heading into the playoffs will be good for us after the thanksgiving break”, shared head coach Kris McKinnon.

In the previous matchup between these two teams, the Hurricanes defeated the Chargers 7-1 in Moncton on September 15th. The Chargers enter Wednesday’s game with a 0-9 record.

The men’s team, currently sitting in fifth place with a 3-1-5 record knows every game counts if they want to qualify for the ACAA championships; they sit just one point behind both the St. Thomas Tommies and UNBSJ Seawolves.

In the previous matchup between these teams we saw the Hurricanes sneak out a late-goal victory when Joel Dennis scored late in the game. The Chargers enter the game with a 2-7-1 record and sit in sixth place in the standings.

“Last game versus Crandall we created many scoring opportunities. We will look to do the same and take our chances. Our flank play and being patient will be our focus”, shared head coach Jonathan Vos.

Following Wednesdays games the Hurricanes will each play two more times before the regular season draws to a close. This weekend the Hurricanes will visit the St. Thomas Tommies on Saturday before they travel to Saint John to take on the UNBSJ Seawolves on Sunday.
