Ready and Trainor commit to Hurricanes
April 22, 2014
Prince Edward Island volleyball players, Laura Ready and Dana Trainor are set to join the Holland Hurricanes next season. Both Ready and Trainor were members of the high school champion Colonel Gray Colonels as well as Team PEI last season and are from Charlottetown.
“Ready and Trainor are vocal, high energy players which is a piece of the puzzle we were missing last season. Their talent along with other key recruits and returning players will bring a much more competitive team to the court next season”, expressed head coach Lori-Beth Dwyer.
Ready picked up the game at age 12 and since has played five years provincially and six years of school volleyball, picking up three provincial titles in the process.
“I’m very excited to be enrolled at Holland College and I look forward to contributing to the Hurricanes this season”, she shared. “I’m the type of player that is always working hard on and off the court; I try to lead by example and am always positive which keeps the team spirit high”.
Dwyer is pleased with the new recruits confirming their intentions to attend the College and play with the Canes.
“Laura will be a strong addition to our line up as she will add to our offence as an experienced setter. She has a very positive attitude and is a great team player”.
Trainor began playing the game in grade seven, being introduced to it by her mother and friends and she’s excelled at it ever since.
“I’m excited to be a member of the Hurricanes; It’s going to be a great year academically and athletically”, she shared.
Coach Dwyer also likes what she sees in Trainor’s style of play.
“Dana is an aggressive player with a lot of fight in her. She will certainly make a difference in our defensive game”.
Both players are excited to work with second-year head coach Lori-Beth Dwyer.
“She was an extremely talented volleyball player who will bring dedication and commitment to the team as well as her knowledge on the game”, shared Ready.
“Lori-Beth has an impressive background as a coach and a player, I expect great coaching and leadership and also improvement throughout the season”, Trainor said.
The Hurricanes will continue to train as they prepare for next season with training camp officially starting in September.
