Pryce and Bowden chosen as Hurricanes Athletes of the Week

Volleyball player Courtney Pryce and basketball player Chase Bowden have been chosen as the Holland Hurricanes Athletes of the Week for the week ending December 1.
Pryce, a first year middle from Cobourg, Ontario had four kills and 10 digs during Saturday’s game and then recorded 12 kills, four service aces and four digs during Sunday’s game; both games were played against the STU Tommies. Pryce is a first year student in the Pastry Arts Program.
The women’s Hurricanes won their first sets of the season this weekend, losing to the Tommies three-games-to-two on Saturday while dropping Sunday’s game three-games-to-one. The women’s volleyball Hurricanes resumes their ACAA regular season on January 12th when they host the Universite Sainte-Anne Dragons.
Bowden, a second year player with the Hurricanes from New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, helped the Hurricanes defeat the Mount Allison Mounties on Sunday. Bowden returned from injury scoring 29 points and adding nine rebounds. He was also nine for 11 from the free throw line in the game. The Hurricanes won the game 86-74.
The men’s basketball team enters the Christmas break with a 5-2 record, sitting in second place in the ACAA standings as well as is sitting as number eight in the CCAA national men’s rankings. They will return to the court on January 11th when they host the UKC Blue Devils.
