Men’s Hurricanes prepare for Thursday’s nationals game with Vanier Cheetahs

The men’s and women’s Hurricanes basketball teams are on the road to nationals; the men on their way to Squamish, British Columbia while the women make their way to Saint-Lambert, Quebec.
The men’s Hurricanes are coming off of their second straight ACAA Championship and enter the tournament at number five in the CCAA national rankings.
On Thursday the ‘Canes will begin their tournament when they take on the number four ranked Vanier Cheetahs. Tip off takes place at 5pm Atlantic time and can be viewed live at www.sportscanada.tv.
Head coach Josh Whitty is ready to get the tournament underway.
“I can’t wait to get started. Vanier has a strong team with excellent guard play. We’re looking to get off to a good start and carry on our good play from the ACAA playoffs.”
The Cheetahs were the 2011 CCAA national champions and finished in first place in the RSEQ conference this season with a 16-2 record.
The winner of Thursday’s game will advance to the national semi-finals at 10:30 pm Atlantic time on Friday versus the winner of the Langara Falcons and Concordia Thunder game.
The loser will play at 5pm (Atlantic Time) on Friday.
As Thursdays men’s game wraps up you will be able to switch over and tune into our women’s basketball teams first ever nationals game at 7:30pm (Atlantic Time) as they are in Saint-Lambert, Quebec taking on the Algonquin Thunder.
