MBBALL | Hurricanes recruit one of Nova Scotia’s top basketball prospects

August 8, 2017

Holland College is proud to announce the recruitment of Nova Scotia native, and Toronto Basketball Academy standout Jace Colley.

Colley, a 6’7 forward from East Preston, Nova Scotia, has shown remarkable glimpses of potential and athleticism in his basketball career and is the 31st ranked Canadian High School prospect for the class of 2017.

He has also proven his versatility, splitting time between the shooting guard and both the small and power forward positions during his time in Toronto.

With his length and agility, he is able to guard both forward positions and on offense he thrives in transition, showcasing his ability to catch and finish at the rim. Colley’s game is complemented with a respectable shooting stroke from mid-range and beyond.

The decision to join the Hurricanes was rather easy for Colley, who was impressed with the school’s winning culture and the ability to play closer to home.

“(Holland College) fits my personality off the court and they’re also close to home,” said Colley “They checked everything off my list of what I wanted from a school.”

Colley is looking forward to showing what he can do at the college level next season.

“I’m aware of the Hurricanes success as a school,” he said. “I know they’re winners here and I’ve always been a part of winning teams.”

Head coach Josh Whitty is glad to be adding Colley to his roster.

“We are excited to have him on our team,” shares Whitty. “It’s a big pickup for us to have him in our uniform; he will help the team right away.”

The Hurricanes are the 2017 ACAA champions as well as the CCAA National Bronze medalists.

The ‘Canes open up the 2017-18 ACAA regular season on November 4 when they visit the MSVU Mystics in Halifax.
