MBASE | Hurricanes sweep Axemen to open up season on road

The Holland Hurricanes men’s baseball team kicked off their 2017 regular season on Saturday in Wolfville,NS  with a pair of games versus the Acadia Axemen.

With solid team efforts put forth the ‘Canes earned victories of 11-6 and 6-4 to start their season off at 2-0.

Veteran pitcher Brady Arsenault started in game one for the Hurricanes on Saturday, pitching an impressive six innings of scoreless baseball.  Jarue Thompson and Brandon Greeno would enter the game in the seventh in relief.

On Sunday Colin Arsenault got the start and pitched the complete game for the victory.

Sunday’s scheduled double-header in Antigonish versus the St. FX X-Men was rescheduled for October 7 due to rain.

The Hurricanes will now turn their attention towards the upcoming weekend when they host the St. FX X-Men at Memorial Field at Victoria Park on Saturday for a double-header with games scheduled for 1 and 3:30pm.  This is the team’s 2017 home opener.

On Sunday the Hurricanes will take on their rivals from Fredericton, NB when they visit the University of New Brunswick.
