Kelly and Jones chosen as Hurricanes Athletes of the Week

Soccer players Emma Kelly and Kelsey Jones have been chosen as the Holland Hurricanes Athletes of the Week for the week ending October 27.
Kelly, a goalkeeper for the women’s soccer team was a key player in the Hurricanes ACAA Championship victory this past weekend; she was named the Player of the Game in Sunday’s 1-0 victory in the championship game over the Mount Saint Vincent University Mystics. The ‘Canes also shut out the number one ranked University of King’s College Blue Devils in Saturday’s semi-final; a game that seen the ‘Canes take the win 1-0.
The women’s Hurricanes are travelling to Surrey, British Columbia next week for the 2013 CCAA Women’s Soccer Championship hosted by Kwantlen Polytechnic University November 4 to 10.
Kelly is a Charlottetown native in the Sport and Leisure Program at Holland College.
Jones, a center-back from Kentville, Nova Scotia helped the Hurricanes earn a silver medal this weekend at the ACAA Championships after a 1-0 victory over the UKC Blue Devils on Saturday. The win came in overtime after the two teams were tied 0-0 after ninety minutes of regulation play.
On Sunday the men’s Hurricanes lost a heartbreaker in overtime to the MSVU Mystics 1-0, also a game that finished in overtime.
