Hurricanes women’s volleyball serving it up big to kick off 2014
January 8, 2014
The ‘Canes host the Universite de Sainte-Anne Dragons on Sunday at 11am at the Centre for Community Engagement.
“We have a lot of ground to make up after a slow start the first half of the season but I believe that if we work hard this half we will finally add some wins to our record” shared head coach Lori-Beth Dwyer.
The Hurricanes are currently 0-7 on the season although their last several games they have been very competitive with the top teams in the league while the Dragons are 1-5.
The Athletic Department has also been busy with their Hurricanes Volleyball Academy, formed during the summer of 2013, which provides players of all ages with the opportunity to work with the Hurricanes head coach Lori-Beth Dwyer and players from the ‘Canes volleyball teams.
The next academy day takes place this Saturday, January 11th from 10am until 4pm for junior high and high school students. The camp is open to players currently playing volleyball or who are interested in getting involved with the sport in the future.
“This weekend’s skill workshop is a great opportunity for players to come out and work on their skills during the off season. Provincial team tryouts are just around the corner so there is no better time to get back on the court” said Dwyer.
