Hurricanes Women’s Volleyball: Finishes Regular Season Winless

February 19, 2013

Charlottetown, PE – The women’s volleyball Hurricanes completed their season on a losing note, dropping a pair of straight-set matches.

Holland College travelled to Sackville to play Mount Allison, and while they were able to hang in with the Mounties, they ultimately fell in sets of 25-15, 25-21 and 25-16.

Emily Caldwell paced the Holland College attack with eight kills while adding five kills, and Kendra Carpenter added three kills to go along with six digs.

For Mount Allison, Georgia Sibold connected on 12 kills to go along with three digs, while Erica Cronkhite played a strong defensive game, turning in 11 digs for the Mounties.

From there, the Hurricanes travelled to southern Nova Scotia to play the Université Sainte-Anne Dragons, where they again lost in straight sets. Scores and statistics were unavailable from this match.

Like their male counterparts, the Hurricanes were supposed to travel to St. Thomas for a four-point match to finish the season, but it was cancelled due to weather.
With a team full of first-year students, the Hurricanes finished out of the running for the ACAA championships.
