Hurricanes Physiotherapy to open this October in Charlottetown

September 18, 2017

The Holland College Hurricanes in partnership with Sports Centre Physiotherapy are opening a physiotherapy clinic at Holland College’s Centre for Community Engagement on the Prince of Wales Campus in Charlottetown.

The fully functioning Hurricanes Physiotherapy clinic will help serve the existing physiotherapy needs of Holland College student-athletes, students, staff and immediate family members while also serving external clients.

The joint venture will provide the required clinical experience for the proposed new Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist Assistant program, which is being developed for launch in the fall of 2018. The clinic also gives hands-on learning opportunities to students in a number of college programs such as Sport and Leisure Management and Medical Support Services.

Holland College’s director of athletics and recreation, Albert Roche, is pleased to be able to offer the service beginning in the fall.

“Our relationship with Sports Centre Physiotherapy has been exceptional over the last 10 years, and their support has been an integral part of our story to date,” he said.  “The synergy created by this new venture will benefit all parties, but most notably, this integrated approach will better serve our students and staff.”

Over the years, Sports Centre Physiotherapy has provided Hurricanes Athletics with team therapy services, national championship support, concussion and movement assessment and short course delivery.

“We are excited to be a part of Holland College’s continued growth,” said Colin Moore, owner and operator of Sports Centre Physiotherapy.

“For over a decade we have been supporting the Hurricanes and we are thrilled by the news of an on-campus clinic.  Hurricanes Physiotherapy will allow us to provide high quality physiotherapy treatments conveniently to student-athletes, students and staff,” he said. “We are pleased to be playing a part in providing improved care to the college’s students and staff and to support the clinical training requirements of college programs.

The Holland College Centre for Community Engagement is located at 323 Grafton Street on the Prince of Wales Campus in Charlottetown.  Hurricanes Physiotherapy will be located on the third floor and will be opening October 16, 2017
