DANCE | A storm is dancing its way to Fredericton
January 23, 2017
A storm is coming as the Holland Hurricanes Dance Team ramps up for their first competition in the two years the team has been established. The Atlantic Collegiate Dance Competition will be held in Fredericton, New Brunswick, on Saturday, February 4th.
“The countdown is on, and they will fear the storm,” said Chanelle MacIsaac, coach of the Hurricanes Dance Team.
The Hurricanes Dance Team has been a popular group around campus the past two years at Holland College. Individuals with varying degrees of experience and talent levels have been encouraged to join and learn from the coaches and the number of participants have been staggering.
“The team really made me feel welcome and like I was part of the family,” said Mickeen Fine. “It made me excited for every practice,” she added.
The Dance Team also has a couple of other events that they will make an appearance at in the coming months including the CCAA National Men’s Basketball Championship in March which Holland College will host in Charlottetown at the Centre for Community Engagement.
They will also perform at the Hurricanes Awards Gala in April where all Hurricanes student-athletes will gather to celebrate their achievements during the 2016-17 season.
Other appearances include Hurricanes basketball home games and the Island Dodgeball Championships.
All in all, the Hurricanes are excited to show the competitive scene what they can do, and prove themselves as Holland College Hurricanes student-athletes. After three performances at home basketball games this academic year, they are determined to bring their energy to the stage.
