Brissett and Palmer chosen as Hurricanes Athletes of the Week

Basketball players Katiesha Brissett and Orlando Palmer have been chosen as the Holland Hurricanes Athletes of the Week for the week ending January 12.
On the court this past weekend Brissett helped the Hurricanes women’s basketball team go a perfect two-for-two in their games with the UKC Blue Devils. In Saturday’s game she scored 12 points and 11 rebounds in the game and shot six-for-nine from the field in just over 21 total minutes in the game.
In the Sunday afternoon game Brissett scored eight points and had eight rebounds.
Brissett, from Pickering, Ontario is a Sport & Leisure Management student.
With the two wins the Hurricanes improved to 8-1 on the season; currently sitting in second place in the ACAA standings and ranked at number nine in the CCAA national women’s rankings.
Palmer, a first year Sport & Leisure Management student from Brampton, Ontario scored 25 points on Saturday and went 10 for 13 from the field in just under 25 minutes of play. On Sunday he added eight more points in just under 17 minutes of playing time to help the Hurricanes defeat the UKC Blue Devils on back to back days.
The men’s basketball Hurricanes improved their record to 7-2 on the season and remain in second place in the ACAA standings, and ranked ninth in the CCAA national men’s rankings.
Both the men’s and women’s basketball Hurricanes hit the road for the next seven games, beginning this Saturday against the STU Tommies in Fredericton and Sunday in Saint John versus the UNBSJ Seawolves.
