BBALL | Hurricanes to take on STU Tommies and Dal AC Rams in weekend action

The Holland College Hurricanes basketball teams will travel to Fredericton, NB to take on the STU Tommies on Saturday before returning home on Sunday when the men’s team is in action against the Dal AC Rams at the Holland College Centre for Community Engagement.
The Hurricanes, the 2017 CCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship hosts, currently lead the ACAA in scoring averaging 99.6 points per game and are the top rebounding team in the conference with an average of 41.5 per game.
Individually the ‘Canes are led by Trenity Burdine’s 20.9 points per game which is good for first in the conference while Roosevelt Whyley is seventh in rebounds with 8.0 per game and third in steals with 2.5 per game.
Game times are 3:00 PM on both Saturday in Fredericton and Sunday at the Centre for Community Engagement in Charlottetown.
The Holland Hurricanes women’s basketball team enters weekend play as the highest scoring offense in the ACAA with 78.8 points per game. The ‘Canes also lead the conference with 2.1 blocks per game while sitting second in both assists and steals averaging 14.9 and 14.4 per game respectively.
Jayla Verney continues to lead the conference in scoring with an average of 18.6 per game. Tyleigha Nelson is third in blocks with 0.6 per game and sixth in rebounds with 7.5 per game.
The women’s game on Saturday will tip-off at 1:00 PM.
